Vanzevat

Vanzevat lies on the bank of the Bolšaja Ob’, a few dozen kilometers from the Kazym mouth.
The protective spirit of the settlement is wańś-awət ĭki, ’Vanzevat man’, whose adjective is pĭti wↄj, wŭrti wↄj tǫrp χↄn aśi, ’ruling father accepting (requesting) black animal, red animal as a sacrifice’. The most common surnames are: Moldanov, Kondin, Jumin, Jur’ev, Dibin, Batkin and Samarin. In 1928, the following residential places belonged to the settlement: Vanzevat, Vortjugan kort, Votmogor, Lakhsum village, Mungutlor, Olenskie, Souslany, Samutnëly. In 1934, kolkhozes were founded, the one in Vanzevat was named after Stalin, the one in Samutnëly after Vorošilov, and the one in Souslan after Razin. The ratio of residents to kolkhoz members was 107:30 in Vanzevat, 103:28 in Samutnëly, and 78:24 in Souslany.
